Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this Strawberry Cobbler Dump Cake is a delectable treat that will leave you craving seconds.
This recipe is adapted from Delicious Miss Brown, who featured a dump cake on one of her more recent episodes. My version uses Trader Joe’s yellow cake mix for a more golden crust plus Garam Masala for that cobbler spice.
Ingredients
4 cups strawberries (cut into bite size pieces)
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 Tbsp fresh orange zest
1 tsp vanilla extract
One 16-ounce box yellow cake mix
1 stick unsalted butter, cut into cubes (cold)
1/4 - tsp Garam Masala Seasoning from
Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Combine the strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, oragne zest and vanilla extract, and Garam Masala in a medium bowl. Toss to coat the berries. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish.
Evenly pour the cake mix over the berries in an even layer.
Scatter the butter cubes over the top.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake until the top is puffed and the fruit is bubbling, about 40 minutes.
Remove the foil sprinkle with a dash of Garam Masala (optional) and continue baking for 20 more minutes.
Let the cake cool before scooping and serving with vanilla ice cream.
