Fashion Isn’t Exclusive:
Okay, real talk—I used to think the fashion world was this untouchable place. Like, you had to have that “fashion sense” to even claim the title of fashionista. And guess what? I counted myself out because I didn’t think I had the look, the style, or the confidence to pull it off. Of course, you’d find me in my dorm room every Tuesday night, glued to America’s Next Top Model with my roommates, dreaming of strutting down the runway. I mean, come on, who doesn’t imagine themselves on stage with Tyra Banks calling the shots? But it felt like a dream that was meant for someone else.
Here’s the kicker—I don’t think that way anymore. The way I see myself now? Girl, it’s a whole vibe, and a lot of that shift has come from watching brands like Savage X Fenty. They’re all about encouraging women to love what they love, wear what makes them feel good, and express themselves without limits. There’s no gatekeeping in this world. No one’s gonna tell you that your style isn’t “right.” It’s about owning your space, feeling comfortable, and walking through life like you own it.
Fashion Isn’t One Size Fits All—It’s Self-Expression
I used to think you had to follow some invisible rulebook to look fashionable, but fashion isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about self-expression. It’s about throwing on that outfit that makes you feel like you can conquer the world, whether it’s a power suit, a cozy sweater, or a bodysuit that makes you feel like a queen. There’s no right or wrong way to do it—it’s just about you.
And let’s be real, how we dress impacts more than just our Instagram pics. As women, what we wear often affects how we feel, how safe we are, and whether or not we’ll even be welcomed into certain spaces. We get dressed in the morning with all these factors in mind—confidence, comfort, safety—and sometimes, it’s all about survival. I get that. I live that.
The Power of Representation
I think that’s why I’m so obsessed with brands born from women and designed for women. There’s just something about knowing that a brand sees you—that it was built for folks like us, who might’ve doubted their spark until they finally saw themselves reflected in the mainstream. I know that’s what Savage X Fenty has done for me. When I saw women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds walking down that runway, I realized, damn, fashion isn’t exclusive. It’s for everyone, including you and me.
So now? I walk into the world knowing there’s no one way to be a fashionista. I dress for me—for how I feel in my skin, for how I want to move through the world. It’s about owning my identity and showing up for myself, in whatever look I feel that day. Because at the end of the day, fashion is about living your best life, and no one can tell you how to do that better than you.
